This is @dotmvsic - she is an inimitable, beautiful wise woman who has guided me to create some of my best music and continues to inspire me with what she is able to achieve as a solo independent artist-producer-musician-educator and how gracefully she surrenders into her own growth. She is leaving soon for Valencia España to get her masters in music technology from Berklee! Her departure makes me realize how much I love and appreciate her. So jubilant for you and all the illumination you bring to this LA music community and now the global one 💖 Bon voyage, beauty! You are the most precious of gems and I’ll miss you 💎💝😭😊😊😊

Oh heyy, just out here working through my loneliness, inherited psychological oppression of women, family history of men taking concubines and the divorce of my parents. My ancestral trauma stops with me. I am doing major work in this lifetime and I’ve been majorly blessed to have already lived a rich and textured life that’s only getting better. It’s okay to be sad; that’s when growth happens. Happiness is a given 💎

Today I rode the subway in Mexico City. As a lone Asian woman, the Underground in a foreign city at rush hour can be a jolting place. Swarms of people push to squeeze themselves into already packed cars. I was elated to see a sign stating that there were a couple cars dedicated just for “mujeres y niños” only, so I walked to that section and got in line on the platform behind a young Mexican woman about my age. I boarded the train, and I felt safer being in the presence of only women. One less thing to worry about! Sure there is always the possibility of being pickpocketed, but I was likely not to be badgered or touched where I didn’t want to be. This system, of having dedicated women-only cars, has been implemented for the past 10 years @carinaciudad told me later. It’s a short-term solution to a universal problem of women feeling unsafe and being harassed in public spaces. How can we start to change our culture so that public transit and the outside world is a safe place for women?
Visibility is one way. So here I am, lying on the floor of Castillo de Chapultepec, a castle in the center of Mexico City built in the 18th century for an Austrian ruler/colonizer. I take photos like this to take up space. I do this to make myself visible beyond my “sexy body”, to show that I am a whole person because this is how we rewrite the stories of oppression and start making our cities safe for all people. I do this for all the other women who don’t feel safe doing this, yet. We are here. Hiiii! ❤️

That time when I got super drunk and sang for 15 of my friends in Mexico City and tried to seduce my gay best friend Minh. The way he looks at me is my whole life though 😍🌈😍 also dancing with a hammock is fun you should try it. PS Carina and I were the two architect/dancers in the program she’s amazing and so gorgeous!! being a dancer brings an organic, sensory perspective that is so vital when designing public urban spaces ❤️
